Restoration

Aging church buildings need regular attention if they are to be preserved and maintained. Work completed back in 2004 which received a Heritage Lottery Fund grant, required replacing stone work around windows and cleaning the stained glass, with repairs to the leading. North , south and east walls of the church had the pointing replaced using a lime based cement. The use of this traditional mortar allowed the walls to expel water more easily, preventing damp penetrating to the interior plaster. You can look around the east wall by placing your cursor in the picture below, holding down the left mouse button while dragging in any direction.

The church grounds have recently seen an improvement, with the creation of additional cark parking space at rear of the church. In addtion, a tree at the vicarage site which was uprooted in high winds in Janurary of this year, was removed. Phgotographs showing both the work at the church and the removal of the fallen tree can be viewed here.
